Paste a job link. The checker reads the date it was first posted straight from the employer's hiring system, and tells you whether the job is still open.
Works with job links from Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Workday, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Personio and Breezy. No sign-up, and we don't keep a log of what you check.
The date on the job board isn't always the real one.
A job board shows when a listing reached it, or when it was last refreshed. The employer's hiring system holds the day the job was first published. That is the date this tool shows you.
The day, and where the system gives it the time, the employer published the job.
Last edited
Shown apart from the posting date, so an edited or refreshed job can't pass for a new one.
Still open, or not
Checked against the employer's live list of jobs at the moment you ask.

An edit doesn't make a posting new.
It has been open for more than a month. Some roles take that long to fill and some have stalled; the date can't tell you which. It is still listed, so it's worth a look before you put time into it.
How the job posting date checker works.
1
Paste the job's link
The link to the job on the employer's careers page, or the page you reach after clicking Apply.
2
We ask the hiring system
The checker works out which hiring system the job is on and reads the posting from that system's public job data.
3
You see the real date
The day the employer first published the job, how long ago that was, and whether it is still listed.
Job links it can read, and what each one tells you.
Nine hiring systems publish posting dates for anyone to read. These are the link shapes to look for in your browser's address bar.

What it can't check, and what to do instead.
LinkedIn, Indeed and other job boards
They don't allow tools to read their pages, so we don't. Open the job there, choose to apply on the company's website, and paste the link you land on.
Systems that publish no date
Rippling, iCIMS, Taleo, Jobvite, Workable and BambooHR don't make posting dates public. The checker tells you so instead of guessing.
Careers pages on a company's own address
A page like careers.company.com often hides which system is behind it. Click Apply: the page you land on usually shows it, and that link works.
Job posting dates: questions people ask.
How can I tell when a job was actually posted?
The employer's hiring system records when each job was first published. Paste the job's link into the checker and it reads that date from Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, SmartRecruiters, Workday, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Personio and Breezy, then shows it to you with the number of days since and whether the job is still listed.
Why does a job board show a different date?
A job board shows when the listing reached that board, or when it was last refreshed there. A listing that has been reposted or promoted can look new when the role has been open for weeks. The date in the employer's own hiring system is the day the posting was first published, and that is the one this tool reads.
Does it work with LinkedIn or Indeed links?
No. LinkedIn and Indeed don't allow tools to read their pages, so the checker never fetches them. Open the job there, choose the option to apply on the company's website, and paste the link you land on. That page is usually on the employer's hiring system, which is where the real date lives.
How do I know if a job is still open?
The checker looks for the job on the employer's hiring system at the moment you ask. If it's there, the result says Still open. If the employer has removed it, the result says No longer listed, even when a job board is still showing it.
Is a job posted more than 30 days ago still worth applying to?
Often, yes. Some roles take months to fill. What an old date tells you is that you won't be among the first applicants, and that it's worth confirming the job is still listed before you spend an evening on it. The checker does that confirmation for you.
Is this a ghost job detector?
No. A date shows how long a job has been open, not whether the employer intends to fill it, so the checker doesn't label any job a ghost job. It gives you the two facts that can be checked: when the posting went up, and whether it's still there.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It's free, with no account and no email. We don't keep a log of the links you check. A single visitor is limited to a few dozen checks every five minutes, which is there to stop scripts, not people.
Where does the date come from?
From the job data each hiring system publishes for anyone to read. Greenhouse, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Personio and Breezy give the date and time a posting was first published. Ashby and Workday give the day. Nothing is taken from a job board, and nothing is estimated.
HiringNow monitors 247,000+ career sites, checks each one again every 5 minutes, and shows you every job with the time it was first seen. Ten applications free, no card.
